The crude truth

I am a 26 year old –Working Woman. I work in 24*7 Environment. I have a so called safe Transport department. My cab picks me up from my house and drops me at my home. I live with my Family and my house has CCTV cameras. I travel only with my Boyfriend anywhere in the city. I pay my taxes on time, I abide by the law. I Do not wear provoking clothes.
But I am always scared and furious.
Most of you can relate yourself to me or someone you know. Do you feel safe, no?
You just choose to ignore the fear and concentrate on yours Daily life other that some brutal accident, that may or may not ever happen to You.
Why do I feel unsafe? Why Do You feel unsafe?
Because I know that if I get raped, I will go through a nightmare with my eyes open, for the rest of my life. I will be labeled a Rape-Victim; I will be seen with sympathetic eyes. I will read about me in Newspaper and people will think, “Who will marry her”. They will uncover my Face and my life. But the accused will be taken with a mask on his face for Every trial.  With the recent Gang Rape case, the victims were taken for Trial with their faces covered. Why????? What are they being protected from? Sun tan??!!

I do not feel safe with my Security guards or drivers Because they get involved in hassles on road if someone overtakes their car in a harsh-hurry. This shows their attitude that if it is about their ego, they will not think of anyone or any consequences.

The CCTV camera at my house does not make me feel safe Because, the thief will cover their faces before committing the crime. And Police will have an excuse to prolong the investigation.

My boyfriend locks the way of anyone who stare at me, we cannot travel in a public transport without somebody rudely staring me, be it  an old man, a young boy or an adult.  So should I stop commuting in public transport? I should think about my safety and not about the money or being eco-friendly. The world is expecting India to grow when I have to choose between such things.

If I am paying my taxes, why is the money I pay the Government to take care of my public demands are not fulfilled?

What all do I have to give up before it is too late?

Inspired by one of the most practical article posted about the recent Gang Rape in Delhi.
